The architectural shape of the Holy Monastery of Pantokratoros is defined, in plan view, as irregular or polygonal. This is probably a result of the building interventions and extensions that took place over the centuries to such an extent, that the building complex we see today dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Thus, it is believed that the original architectural buildings must have been limited to the northwestern part of the current building complex and the Catholicon (the main church), was surrounded by the monks cells.

The course on the Architecture of the Holy Monastery of Pantokratoros presents the stages of the building construction and the restoration work carried out in the Monastery over the years.

Το αρχιτεκτονικό σχήμα της Ιεράς Μονής Παντοκράτορος ορίζεται, σε κάτοψη, ως ακανόνιστο ή πολυγωνικό. Αυτό είναι πιθανότατα αποτέλεσμα των κτιριακών επεμβάσεων και επεκτάσεων που έγιναν ανά τους αιώνες, σε τέτοιο βαθμό, ώστε το κτιριακό συγκρότημα που βλέπουμε σήμερα να χρονολογείται από τον 17ο και τον 18ο αιώνα. Έτσι, πιστεύεται ότι τα αρχικά κτίρια πρέπει να περιορίζονταν στο βορειοδυτικό τμήμα του σημερινού κτιριακού συγκροτήματος και το Καθολικό (ο κυρίως ναός), περιβαλλόταν από τα κελιά των μοναχών.
